Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 8 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Arrange the slices of bread in a baking dish and pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring each slice is well soaked.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top.
- Using a kitchen torch, caramelize the brown sugar until it forms a crispy crust. Alternatively, place under a broiler for a few minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Serve warm and enjoy your decadent Crème Brûlée French Toast!
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use vanilla bean paste instead of extract.
- Feel free to add toppings like fresh berries or whipped cream.
- Make sure to soak the bread long enough for the best texture.
