Easter Dirt Cake Casserole is a fun and delicious dessert perfect for celebrating Easter with family and friends.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 container (12 oz) whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 package (14 oz) Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1 cup gummy worms
  • 1 cup pastel M&M’s or chocolate eggs for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions and bake in a 9×13 inch baking dish for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the instant chocolate pudding mix and milk. Whisk until smooth and let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken.
  5. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping until well combined.
  6. Once the cake has cooled, crumble it into small pieces in the baking dish.
  7. Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the crumbled cake, followed by the cream cheese mixture.
  8. Sprinkle the crushed Oreo cookies on top to create the ‘dirt’ layer.
  9. Decorate with gummy worms and pastel M&M’s or chocolate eggs.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the layers to set.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, try using vanilla pudding instead of chocolate for a lighter flavor.
  • You can also substitute crushed graham crackers for the Oreos for a different texture and taste.
