Ingredients
- Granny Smith apples: 2, peeled and sliced into 8 wedges each
- Crescent roll dough: 2 cans (8 oz each)
- Butter: ½ cup (1 stick), melted
- Granulated sugar: ¾ cup
- Brown sugar: ½ cup
- Cinnamon: 1 tsp
- Nutmeg: ¼ tsp
- Vanilla extract: ½ tsp
- Heavy cream: ⅓ cup
- Lemon-lime soda (Sprite/7Up): ¾ cup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Wrap each apple slice in a crescent roll triangle and place in the dish, seam-side down.
- Whisk melted butter, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Stir in heavy cream.
- Pour the mixture evenly over dumplings. Then pour soda around the edges (not directly on top).
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
- Let cool slightly. Serve warm with the creamy sauce spooned over the top.
Notes
- Use tart apples for best flavor contrast.
- Do not use diet soda — it won’t caramelize properly.
- For extra richness, add a splash of bourbon or maple syrup to the sauce.
