Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French, Italian, or sourdough bread
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Slice the bread into 1-inch sections, without cutting through the base.
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter, garlic, olive oil, mozzarella, Parmesan, parsley, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Stuff the mixture between bread slices and spread any extra on top.
  5. Wrap the loaf in foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Unwrap and bake an additional 10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let rest for a few minutes, then serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but garlic powder works in a pinch.
  • You can prepare and refrigerate this loaf a few hours ahead before baking.
